To celebrate the birth of their son Pierre, Anne Sophie and Jean Paul MAMERT, have created a special cuvee dedicated to him in 2017. This cuvee is composed of 60% Grenache Noir and 40% Cabernet-Sauvignon, two red grapes that both complement and oppose each other. We are delighted to announce that the 2022 vintage of this Cuvee PIERRE has finally seen the light ! The previous vintage could not be made due to the frost of 2021\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Grenache Noir, grown on the slopes of the Oppidum of Ens\u00e9rune, takes advantage of a rocky and sandy soil combining sandstone and marl, which is relatively uncommon for the region. This soil is due to marine sedimentation raised during tectonic movements in the tertiary period. Grenache Noir brings flavors of red fruits, prunes, and a touch of sweetness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cabernet-Sauvignon, on the other hand, is grown on the plots of the dried up pond of Montady, which offers a richer and less draining soil with a calmer aerology. This terroir is ideal for the development of this grape variety, which brings tannic structure and flavors of spices, licorice, and power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The blend of these two grape varieties produces an exceptional wine, which will be appreciated by fans of more structured wines. This vintage is a true rare gem that will surprise even the most demanding palates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, this wine is particularly well suited to accompany dishes in sauce, game, or a grilled rib steak. It has been designed to perfectly complement these dishes, making it an excellent option for special occasions!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AN ORANGE WINE ?\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

New this year, the Domaine de Soustres is going orange! This process may not be well known today, but it is not recent, quite the contrary!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also known as white maceration wine, orange wine is simply a wine made from white grapes and vinified like a red wine. This means that unlike white wine, where the juice of the grapes is pressed quickly to be vinified, the juice of an orange wine (and therefore also a red wine) macerates with the skin, the pips and sometimes the stems. It is necessary to specify that the maceration time varies from several days to several months. It simply depends on the profile of the wine the winemaker is looking for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


For the point of history, the first signs of wine-making date from over 8,000 years ago in the Caucasus, Georgia. Traditionally, Georgian winemakers vinify and mature their red and white wines in terracotta amphorae (called Qvevri) which they bury (to keep a constant heat) in their Marani (Georgian winery), leaving the juice to macerate with the solid parts. This tradition is difficult to determine, since it predates the invention of writing, but it allows us to attribute the paternity of orange wine to them. It is therefore possible that orange wine was the first wine made from white grapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are proud to announce the continuation of our “Les Grenaches” and “Les Parcelles” vintages for 2022. This year could be the occasion to expect more sunny wines because of the weather conditions. Nevertheless, the freshness of the GRENACHE GRIS and the fruitiness of the GRENACHE NOIR remain the same!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The estate will extend to eight different wines, each with unique characteristics that make them stand out. The wines are carefully cultivated and vinified by our team, which makes it a point of honour to offer top quality products to its loyal customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
