A new generation of vines ready to conquer our glasses

With environmental issues looming on the horizon and the impact of climate change, a new alternative is on the horizon! At Domaine de Soustres, some promising new recruits have just arrived. After playing the mystery game, it is time to lift the veil… Here are some resistant varieties, ready to produce top quality wines while reducing the use of treatments, controlling water requirements and also alcohol levels. A real revolution for the taste buds and the planet!

3159-2-12 B, the Chardonnay of the South

So, have you found the answer? It is neither an animal nor a robot, but a rather special vine! At the estate, we grow two of these little wonders, both from resistant varieties. One of them, the 3159-2-12 B, is a direct descendant of the Chasan. It is even called the “Mediterranean Chardonnay”, and believe us, it has nothing to envy the great classics! Its wines are ample, balanced and elegant, perfect for the southern terroirs. In addition, it combines aromatic finesse and anti-disease superpowers. In short, a real star that offers a very serious alternative to traditional grape varieties.

Bouquet varieties: the legacy of a visionary

3159-2-12 B? This is a super plant born from the research of Alain Bouquet, a Montpellier genius from INRA. His creations, the Bouquet varieties, are superheroines of the vineyard! They have the ability to repel diseases while keeping almost everything that makes wine magic: the Vitis vinifera genome (the heart of the classic grape). The result? Super quality wines with very few chemicals! These little prodigies, developed for more than 15 years in Occitanie, are about to receive their official badge of excellence. So, when will the next vintage be available?

Code name: Coming soon!

For our super plants to be adopted, they need a name worthy of their greatness! A name that tells their story, their quality, and the promise of a bright future. And guess what? With all the professionals participating in the “experiment” we were given the secret mission of finding these names!

So, what will be the future of our heroine 3159-2-12 B? Suspense… We will find out very soon. To be continued…
