Canal du Midi
Info
The Canal du Midi is one of the oldest still-functioning canals in Europe and has been listed as a World Heritage site since 1996. There are many ways to see it, including by boat, on foot, by bike or even on roller blades.
Malpas Tunnel
Info
Built in the 17th century to allow the Canal du Midi to pass Ensérune hill, this became the first navigable canal tunnel in the world. Access to the tunnel and guided tours at the Maison du Malpas visitor centre.

Modern, attractive and eco-friendly marina complex. A blue flag site with the “Clean Harbour” label and one of Europe’s Natura 2000 sites thanks to the efforts made over the years to protect the harbour’s natural environment. Numerous stalls selling shellfish direct from the producer and seafood restaurants.

The Nine Locks of Fonserannes

Watch the impressive spectacle of boats passing the nine locks of Fonserannes, which allow the Canal du Midi to change level to the west of Béziers. You can take part in a guided visit and enjoy various activities around the visitor centre: immersion cinema, treasure hunt, hydrogen bike, canal boat cruises, mini train, etc.

Etang de Montady, the Drained Lagoon

Discover one of the most important hydro-agricultural infrastructures of the 13th century which is still used today. From the top of Ensérune hill, you can observe this vast, 400-hectare sun-like landscape whose colours change with the crops in cultivation and the seasons.
